Sylvia Ann Blair, (born 4 January 1982) is a French
actress andsinger . She is best known in France for acting in the theatre, television and film, publishing an extremely successfulnovel "Me and my French Career" ("Moi et mon France") and her staring appearances in musicals including "Temps du coté". Her first film, made in 1999, "Etre Français et l'Aimer ", was a huge success in the box office.Biography
Sylvia was born in
Marseille where she also grew up. Her father, John Blair was an American born business man who first detested Sylvia's choice in career but soon became a supporter after her first film was released. Her mother, Ann Géneve, died when Sylvia was nine months old, one month after she divorced John.Sylvia attended school at Montagne d'école until she was 16 and then attended the Université Des Arts in Pézens. A musical director, Apoli Jenervé recognized Sylvia's talent and got her into many French films.
On 10th June 2001 Sylvia was one of the unfortunate victims of a mild earthquake in
Peru when shooting a film on location. She was trapped under a quarter of a tonne of rubble and the remains of a film set and parts of her facial bone structure was crushed. She went through several operations and facial reconstructions and consulted six different plastic surgeons. Her facial structure was finally restored after eighteen months of operations and continued acting.Sylvia later moved to the United States in 2002, but her career has since slowed down. She is known as Ann Blair and has started in seven more films in the US. Such films include, "Down the Underpath" and "The Horizon".
She has also continued with her musical theatre performances and has performed in countries around Europe and in Japan.
