"Amelanchier lamarckii", commonly known as juneberry, is species of serviceberry shrub. It has white flowers that are star-shaped. Its young berry-like pome fruits are dark-red when young, but become dark-purple when ripe. The fruits are edible and has a apple and sweet like flavor. It is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant. It is native to NA, but has been naturalized in Europe. Some botanists consider this species to be of hybrid origin ("A. laevis" and either "A. arborea" or "A. canadensis") and therefore making the specific epithet invalid.
