Soon after forming in 2005 In Fiction signed to Boomtown Records in 2006 with their debut release The Four Letter Failure [ [http://www.boomtownrecords.com.au/artistDetails.php?artistId=6 Boomtown Records - In Fiction Profile] ] and featured as Triple J's "Next Crop" artist [ [http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/events/ausmusicmonth_06/next_crop/infiction.htm Triple J] ] as part of AusMusic Month.

When released, The Four Letter Failure landed at number 72 in the Australian ARIA Charts and stayed in the top 100 for 5 weeks [ [http://www.infiction.com.au/biography.htm In Fiction Biography] ] . When Ghost was released, it debuted at number 14, attracting Japanese label Pyropit Records to release an album combining The Four Letter Failure and Ghost [ [http://www.pyropitrecords.com/ Pyropit Records] ] .

In Fiction frequently tour Australia with a number of bands, including The Matches, Bodyjar, Behind Crimson Eyes and Kisschasy.
