"Kakkezai" are a clan of Punjabi Muslims of
Afghan origin found predominantly inPakistan Punjab.A
Pashtun tribe originally from Kandahar that settled the northern panjabi fertile plains particularly aroundSialkot in the late 13th century.The Kakkezai were an influential community known for being big land owners. Some members of the community found themselves on the wrong side of the border during the independence of
Pakistan and were caught off guard by theRadcliffe Line when they assumed their Muslim majority areas would be part of Pakistan. These refugees later resettled along with their kinsmen inSialkot while others settled inFaisalabad ,Gujranwala andLahore where many have now established successful businesses.See also
