Kakkezai

Kakkezai

"Kakkezai" are a clan of Punjabi Muslims of Afghan origin found predominantly in Pakistan Punjab.

A Pashtun tribe originally from Kandahar that settled the northern panjabi fertile plains particularly around Sialkot in the late 13th century.

The Kakkezai were an influential community known for being big land owners. Some members of the community found themselves on the wrong side of the border during the independence of Pakistan and were caught off guard by the Radcliffe Line when they assumed their Muslim majority areas would be part of Pakistan. These refugees later resettled along with their kinsmen in Sialkot while others settled in Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore where many have now established successful businesses.
