Hamid Khan Zafar (also known as Rebel9) is an author of mixes in Chillout style, popular in electronic music fans community because of his perfect taste for good tunes.

Biography

Rebel9's real name is Hamid Khan Zafar, originally from Afghanistan but now living in Sweden. His interest in electronic music begun when he heard Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and Brian Eno when he was a small kid. Beautiful laidback music has always been a big passion of him. The idea of putting together some of his chillout favorites aroused in 2000. Hamid put together a mix and sent it to some friends. They loved it! So he made a couple of more mixes and they all received great feedback. On of mixes was played on a big audio system on huge LAN Party in Belgium. One of the guys which was there asked him if he wanted a broader audience to hear his mixes. And the next moment two of Rebel9's mixes were heard by thousands of people all around the world on the Internets largest webradio [http://www.di.fm Digitally Imported] .

A lot of people have been asking Hamid how he manage to collect so many good tunes in one single mix. The answer to that is that he takes months and months to collect songs to each mix. That's also the reason to why there aren't that many mixes released by Rebel9. One year is normally the time it takes for Hamid to collect all the tunes and put them together.

In recent years admirers can't hear the new mixes from Rebel9. Although he replied to questions like "what happened to Rebel9" that he has just been busy with studies of computer troubles but he is "already planning his next mix", the fans have not been hearing the new Rebel9 from 2005.
