Sabour (Urdu صبور) is a Union Council of Gujrat District, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. [ [http://www.nrb.gov.pk/lg_election/union.asp?district=10&dn=Gujrat Tehsils & Unions in the District of Gujrat - Government of Pakistan] ] It is located at 32°48'0N 74°4'0E [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PK/4/Sabaur.html Location of Sabaur - Falling Rain Genomics] ] and is situated on the Bhimber Road, thirty kilometres away from Gujrat and seven km from Bhimber. A road from Kharian to Bhimber also links Sabour with Rawalpindi. Samrala, Ladian, Rolia and Shampur are neighbouring villages. Administratively Sabour is part of Kharian Tehsil.

Demography

Malik Muhammad Noman Javed Awan Son of Malik Javed Iqbal Awan secured 3rd position in Kangro Mathmatics test held under the supervision of School of Mathmatical Sciences (an Apex Body in Mathmatical Sciences)in year 2007. Total 7000 Students from all over Pakistan participated in this Competition. Malik Noman Javed belong to Bajana family of Awan tribe. The majority of the population belongs to Awan Malik tribe. Until the late 70's agriculture and Army were the only fields where the people were working. Agriculture is a forgotten profession now a days. Small land holdings and no proper source of irrigation have forced people to look for alternatives. From than on till mid 90's Middle East was the favourite destination for the workers. But now people from Sabour are working and living in America and Europe. Few are well settled and living with their families in Europe and U.S.A. Sabour has served nation with all his might in army navy and air force. Sabour's contribution in nation's defence is commendable. Brigadier Zafar Iqbal, Colonol Khalil Naeem served ground troops of Pakistan Army. Malik Javed Iqbal Awan is renowned Pakistani in Spain. Govt. and social circles of Spain have praised his gallant services in SpainMalik Mudassir Iqbal has guranteed nation from the aspect of air defnce. He is in Pakistan Air Force. Malik Muhammad Naveed Younas Awan is serving Pakistan's agriculture scenario. Due to his tireless efforts Pakistan is on the track of self sufficiece in food. Malik Aamir Younas Awan is an active member of Pakistan Railways. Thanks to his services for the nation, Pakistan Railway is on the go. Malik Yasir Younas Awan has thrilled long standing knowledge lake of Sweden by his new scientific discoveries in the field of telecomunication. Sabour Sharif is a proud maternal grand home of Malik Muhammad Imran Awan Gajial. He is very active polical worker at Islamia College civil lines Lahore. His political thoughts has recoloured student politics in Pakistan.

Infrastructure

Sabour has had a primary School since 1905.

today there are four Government Schools,

#Middle School for Girls.
#Middle School for Boys.

There is one religious School (Madrasa) in Sabour.There are Four Mosques in Sabour, and two Mosques in suburbs or newly built areas.

Electricity came in 1966 and fixed line telephone approached our village in 1995. There are Two Water Turbines to supply fresh water to Sabour.Malik Naeem Awan was incharge Water supply System but due to busy day to day engagements he has delegated this responsibility. Although there is no specific Market place but There are many shops in Sabour, most of them are situated on both sides of the Gujrat Bhimber road.Streets are paved and sewerage channel are open but lined.

Geography

Geographically Sabour is situated in plain area. But in the middle of the village there is a small hill. It is higher than three or four-story buildings. It is used as a graveyard of the village. One can climb and feel whole village under his feet, hill remain green all the year round but due to its graveyard status no one visits it as a picnic spot. Most beautiful is the eastern side where there flows a rainy stream called "Nala Bhandar". There is lots of greenery on the both banks of it. Youth enjoy swimming on rainy days along its banks. Bhimber Road bisects the village into two halves. Al-Karam Bofia is a major activity place where people sit and exchange thoughts.
