Netricity

Netricity is a UK brand name of various innovative powerline or homeplug products that use power line communication technology.

The products primarily assist with easy network where two plugs will communicate through the house electrical wiring rather than using Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi signals. Netricity devices connect PCs, Macs, and other devices that use Ethernet.

Functionality

The Netricity range features 5 products, a HomePlug, HomePlug 4-Port Switch, HomePlug Cable Router, Homeplug Wireless Access Point and HomePlug ADSL Modem Wireless Router

Wi-Fi signals are often unreliable over larger distances and especially in multi-storey houses. The Netricity products use HomePlug 1.0 (85Mbit/s) Powerline technolgy and include the ability to set an encryption password. The devices are "Secure by default" as the DES password is preset, but this can be changed to talk to other HomePlugs.

Technology

The Netricity range can solve a lot of existing networking problems such as laying cables all across the couse, by using the internal ring main, this process is eliminated. The Netricity products also combine Homeplug with Routers, Switches, Access Points and more meaning existing Ethernet technology can be used with Powerline.

Company History

The company started in 2007 with a small product range, the name being derived from "NETworking" and "electRICITY".
