Hugo Vihlen is a sailor who set records crossing the
Atlantic Ocean by singlehandedly sailing two tiny boats. For his voyage in1968 , Vihlen sailed fromCasablanca, Morocco , toMiami, Florida . in the 5' 11” long “April Fool”. This voyage is covered in Vihlen's book “April Fool”.In 1993, he chose to leave from the U.S. coast and headed for
England , crossing the North Atlantic in a boat, named “Father's Day”, that was just 5 feet 4 inches long. The story of this four month journey is told in “The Stormy Voyage of Father's Day."References
