Juan F. Sandoval (born January 13, 1981 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a free agent minor league baseball pitcher, most recently assigned to the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. He has been blind in one eye since 2006.

Minor league career

Sandoval was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Mariners in 2000. He began his professional career in 2003 with their Class A affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. In 2004, he advanced to their Class A-Advanced Inland Empire 66ers. He was promoted again in 2005 to the Double-A San Antonio Missions.

On February 4, 2006, Sandoval was dining in a restaurant in the Dominican Republic when an argument between the establishment's bouncer and a drunken patron broke out. The drunken man left the restaurant, but returned with a shotgun. The blast hit Sandoval in the upper torso and face. Three shotgun pellets entered his right eye. He underwent two surgeries to save the eye, though it was left permanently blind. This injury kept him out of the entire 2006 season.Geoff, Baker. Sandoval returned in 2007 with the Mariners' Double-A West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. During the 2007 Rule 5 draft, he was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers and assigned to their Triple-A Nashville Sounds. He was released prior to the start of the by|2008 season.
