- Prazer da Serrinha
Prazer da Serrinha is an extinct
samba school of Serrinha, which is a community of Madureira andVaz Lobo , inRio de Janeiro, RJ ,Brazil .History
The school Prazer da Serrinha was presided during its existence by Alfredo Costa that, according to the founders of
Império Serrano , considered himself the owner of the school and made descisions by himself. In1946 , Mano Décio da Viola and Silas de Oliveira had composed the samba "Conferência de São Francisco" (Conference of São Francisco) to theCarnaval of 1946 , but, in time, Alfredo decided that the school would parade with another samba. The confusion caused problems of harmony, and this made Prazer da Serrinha to finish in 11th place. Unhappy, Mano Décio da Viola,Silas de Oliveira , Sebastião de Oliveira (Molequinho), among others, met in the house ofEulália do Nascimento , and founded theImpério Serrano .The victory of the parade in
1946 organized by "Tribuna Popular" to homageLuis Carlos Prestes and the championship of1950 in the parade organized by the UGESB and tied with Unidos da Capela were the two best results of the school. With the growth of the dissidents of Império Serrano, that paraded in that epoch for the FBES and in1951 were champion four times, the Prazer da Serrinha did not parade anymore in1952 , when there was a reunification of the parades in Rio de Janeiro. After the victory, its last parade was in1951 , when it achieved the 9th place. However Alfredo Costa, that was father-in-law of
Dona Ivone Lara [pt icon [http://www.mpbnet.com.br/musicos/ivone.lara/] ] , would still become president of Império Serrano years later.References
