- 36 Ursae Majoris
36 Ursae Majoris is a yellowish
main sequence star of spectral type F8V. The star is 1.2 times more massive thanSun and has a 1.2 times larger radius. Its age is around 2 billion years. The star is thought to have a stellar companion B of spectral type K7V at wide separation (1500 AUs). An optical companion C (spectral type K2V) is located at 49000 AUs but it's likely not bound to the system.
Brown dwarf companions?
In 1981, a 60
Jupiter mass companion (likely abrown dwarf ) was claimed to orbit around 36 Ursae Majoris in highly eccentric orbit (e=0.81) with a 18 year period (separation 6.8 AUs?). Such companion has still not been confirmed nor officially detected. Nevertheless brown dwarf companions or high massgas giant s are inferred at wide separations. Further radial velocity analysis are needed to confirm the presence of such objects.References
