The precedents that introduce the municipality of Parácuaro in the history date back of the prehispanic epoch in which it thinks that it was lived by nahuas and later conquered by the chief tarasco Utucuma.
During the epoch of the colony, the Spanish constituted it in Republic of the Indias developing important household tasks as them of: The Guadalupe, The Valley and The Pearl.
From 10 of the December 1831 Parácuaro appears as Apatzingán's possession and approximately 30 years later with date November 20 of 1861 it was constituted in municipality by the Congress of the State. The category of villa being granted to it municipal head-board being named Villa de Parácuaro de Morelos.

3,582 inhabitants.
Geography
Location
It is located to the southwest of the State in the coordinates 19°09 ' of north latitude and 102°13 ' of length west to a height of 600 meters on the level of the sea. It is bordered in the northern part by Tancítaro and New Parangaricutiro. In the eastern part with Gabriel Zamora and Múgica. In the southern and in the western part with Apatzingán. It distance to the capital of the State is 200 km.
Extension
Paracuaro's surface is 369.88 Km ². and it represents 0.61 per cent of the whole of the State.
Orography
It relief is constituted by the mountain chain of the volcanic transverse system and Tepalcatepec's - Balsa's depression, the hills of Aguacate, Jabalí, Cofradía, Güera, Vueltas, Batea and White.
Hydrography
It hydrography is constituted by rivers: Aguacate, Orejón, Lancita, Paracuarito and Manga and the springs of cold water, of the Chicos, the Pozos and Cortijo.
Climate
It is tropical, with rains in summer. It has a rain annual rainfall of 800 millimeters and temperatures that range from 14 to 36 °C.
Principal ecosystems
In the municipality predominates the vegetation of tropical forest, with tepeguaje, guaje, ceiba, parota, zapote and mango. The tropical thorny forest, with teteche, viejito, huisache and amole.
Economy
Agriculture
It principal cultivation are: cotton, rice, corn, melon, sorghum, sesame, tomato, cucumber and watermelon.
Ranching
Grows up cattle, equinly and porcine.
Tourism
It possesses two resorts. One in Antúnez's Cruise and one in the municipal head-board.
Trade
Paracuaro is self-sufficient in basic products, stands out the marketing product like fruits, food shops and vegetables.

Holidays, Dances and Traditions
November 20. Celebrates the initiated of the Mexican Revolution.
1° to 15 August. Celebrates the holiday of the Virgin of the Asuncion.
September 15 and 16. The native holidays are celebrated.
Other holidays. Also the carnival holidays are celebrated at the beginning of every year and the Christmas holidays.
Crafts
Furniture of wood and harness-maker's shop.
Gastronomy
The typical food of the municipality is: The Morisqueta (boiled rice), the uchepos, atoles, tamales, corundas enchiladas, fleshes of tamarind and mole.
