There are one million inmates in the USA; one million in countries of the former Soviet Union; one million in India. Estimated, there is five million inmates in jails and prisons worldwide. Incarceration, return prisoners to the society, rehabilitation and crime prevention becomes very serious problem for many nations. Clergy, chaplains, concerned citizens who provide inmates and their families with spiritual counseling and help are called "prison ministers".

International Network of Prison Ministries sees its service to the society by providing relatives and friends of inmates with access to local prison ministries, or organizations by category, such as: distant education, counseling, pen-pals, educational and spiritual literature, aftercare facilities and employment opportunities upon release.
International Network of Prison Ministries provides members with: self-maintained member's page in the Directory; permanent prison ministry-related email address; simple, easy to read, understand and evaluate ministry page layout; forum, news exchange; new features are added monthly.
History
International Network of Prison Ministries was founded in January 1993 as a simple web page. It has grown into several thousand members world-wide outreach in a decade.
