WKZA (106.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Hot Adult Contemporary/Contemporary hit radio format. Licensed to Lakewood, New York, USA, the station serves the Jamestown, New York area. The station is currently owned by Cross Country Communications, LLC; [ cite web|url=http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?call=WKZA |title=WKZA Facility Record |work=United States Federal Communications Commission, audio division ] it is the only commercial station in the Jamestown vicinity not owned by Media One Group.

History

The station originally intended to sign on as WKSQ-FM, as FCC records dated 2000-09-05 indicate. On 2000-10-09, the station changed its call sign to the current WKZA, [ cite web|url=http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/call_hist.pl?Facility_id=48736&Callsign=WKZA |title=WKZA Call Sign History |work=United States Federal Communications Commission, audio division ] the call sign made popular by a now defunct AM station in nearby Kane, Pennsylvania. However, the station did not sign on until late November 2000.

The station's first format was a stunt, airing continuous Christmas music. Soon after, the station "officially" signed on with its format of KISS FM hit radio, which it has maintained ever since.

Personalities heard on WKZA include "(Mike) Dunn and D" (a.k.a. "The KISS FM Morning Show"), Steve Rockford, and Campbell. Syndicated programs include Fox All Access, American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest, Backtrax USA, Randy Jackson's Hit List, and Nina Blackwood's New Wave Nation. Weather is provided by Mike Cejka of WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York.
