Sarah Potts is a fictional character on the soap opera Shortland Street. She is played by Amanda Billing. Sarah works as a doctor and is the head of Emergency Department at Shortland Street Hospital.

Sarah has a teenage son who lives with his father in Samoa. Sarah became pregnant with him when she was a teenager and her mother and father raised him as their own son. Sarah eventually told Daniel that she was not his sister but in fact his mother, he acted out. Sarah made contact with his father and Daniel decided that he wanted to live with him instead but keeps in touch with his mother.

Sarah's marriage to Andrew Solomon was short-lived - barely had the minister pronounced them husband and wife did Andrew's ex-girlfriend, Robyn Stokes, arrive at the church and announced that she was pregnant with his baby. After Andrew left with Robyn, Sarah had a few relationships with other men including Craig Valentine before marrying TK Samuels. Sarah struggled with her love for both Craig and her relationship with TK. On the day of her wedding she went to see Craig but nothing happened. She was escorted to her wedding by Craig . Toni Warner was her bridesmaid. She is now happily married to TK.

Sarah has constant problems with Kip Denton and can't stand his 'immature' behaviour. But no one was on her side as they seemed to take a great liking to him as a doctor. Following a suggestion by Chris, Sarah took a holiday for a few weeks.

Sarah was good friends with Toni Warner and following the car crash looked after here when she lost a kidney after being discharged from the hospital as she had nowhere to go.

Sarah began to have health problems and sought medical advice from Craig Valentine and a series of tests were carried which pointed to multiple sclerosis which she refused to accept and proceed to self-diagnosed other causes to her condition. Sarah finally admitted to Craig that she did have multiple sclerosis when a patient came into the ED suffering from the same symptons. TK is unaware of this illness which she has shared with Kip who is now keeping a watchful eye on her.

Sarah was shocked to learn that her former boyfriend and boss, Craig had been murdered but prior to his death had found medication prescribed for Toni in their bathroom, and tests found the drugs had been severely diluted.
