Prolexic Technologies

Prolexic Technologies was founded in 2003 by Barrett Lyon as a network service which specializes in protecting other web sites from denial-of-service attacks. Maksakov was at the heart of an extortion ring which was extorting money from banks, Internet casinos, and other web based businesses. Reported damages caused by Maksakov range in the the tens of millions of dollars. What enabled Prolexic to succeed was its technology; it was the first network to utilize TCP Anycast for DDoS scrubbing, along with additional proxy based, ASIC and FPGA based scrubbing technologies.
