The Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision looks after, and provides access to 70 per cent of the Dutch audio-visual heritage. In total, around 700,000 hours of television, radio, music and film; making Sound and Vision one of the largest audiovisual archives in Europe. Sound and Vision combines highest professional standards regarding the release and storage of the material with easy access for its users, using state of the art systems for asset management and storage.
Sound and Vision is the business archive of the national broadcasting corporations, a cultural heritage institute (providing access to students and the general public) and also a unique media experience for its visitors. The digital television production workflow and massive digitization efforts break grounds for new services.
Sound and Vision is an experienced partner in European funded research projects. Currently, these include: P2P-Fusion, MultiMatch, PrestoSpace, VIDI-Video, LiWA Living Web Archives (Research Project), Communia and Video Active.
