Highway 86 is a mostly north-south highway in central Arkansas. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 63 2 miles east of Slovak. 1 mile west of Slovak, it turns north at Highway 343 and continues north and west until it intersects U.S. Highway 70 4 miles east of Carlisle. North of U.S. 70, it continues for 4 miles as Anderson Road [cite map|url=http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=13618131661515898714,34.640510,-91.554730%3B2660370366391845587,34.751http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=2396085223539685834,34.995910,-91.654440&saddr=&daddr=&mra=pr&ie=UTF8&ll=34.781523,-91.676273&spn=0.020585,0.032101&z=15|title=AR-86 @ US-70|publisher=Google|cartography=NAVTEQ|year=2008|accessdate=2008-07-10] before again becoming a state highway continuing east and north for 13 miles before ending at Highway 38 5 miles east of Hickory Plains.

An earlier segment began at U.S. Highway 71 approximately 9 miles north of Dequeen and ran west approximately 7 miles to the Arkansas–Oklahoma State Line. This segment was deleted in the late 1930s.Fact|date=July 2008
