SV 98 Schwetzingen ,VfR Mannheim ,SV Waldhof Mannheim 07 andSV Sandhausen . In January 1991 he his first professional contract at Bundesliga sideEintracht Frankfurt .Though in the following three season he had only one appearance for Eintracht and moved to 2. Bundesliga squad 1860 München. Subsequently Kientz promoted with the "Lions" but played only 7 matches.
In 1995 he signed at Spanish club
RCD Mallorca . In the following season he played forCD Logroñés . Between 1997 and 1999 Kientz played again for 1860 München, this time in the Bundesliga. In his first season he appeared 30 Spiele times. In the next season he scored his Bundesliga goal, but was only 6 times on the pitch.In the year 2000 he moved from February until June to Greek side Panionios and then signed for the following season at
Hamburger SV . At the Hanseatic club he played 11 Bundesliga fixtures, netting once as well as appearing in the Champions League. A low-light occurred when HSV played Juventus Kientz had to markZinedine Zidane . In the 28th Minute Zidaneheadbutt ed Kientz and was sent off. HSV won the match 3-1.In 2001 he signed at HSV rivals
FC St. Pauli . He appeared in 20 matches, scoring one goal. In this season he received the only red card in his career. Kientz was member of the XI that won on February 6 2002 Bayern München, who recently won the Intercontinental Cup (in German "Weltpokal") with 2-1. This is why the squad was hailed "Weltpokalsiegerbesieger" (literally Intercontinental Cup winner's winner. Anyhow St. Pauli were relegated after the season.The next two seasons Kientz played at Hansa Rostock in the Bundesliga. He appeared 23 times and scored a goal. Due to an ankle injury Kientz had to retire in 2004.
