JP Houston is a Canadian singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
Career
Houston has a large catalogue of songs composed for TV, theater, and film, beginning his professional songwriting career at the age of seventeen; One of his first credits was composing the theme song to the PBS children's series
The Big Comfy Couch . In 2001, he was nominated for aGemini Award (Canadian Emmy) for Best Original Music Score in a Dramatic Series for his work on "Land Of Hands". His songs have appeared on The Rosie O'donnell Show, and in TheMacy's Thanksgiving Day Parade . He has composed songs for PBS, BBC, YTV, CBC, Eatons, and others.As a performer, JP has been touring in Canada since 2005 (solo, and with his back up bands The Murder, and The Secret 3), including opening slots for Patrick Krief (
The Dears ) andGlen Hansard & Marketa Irglova. In December 2006 he filmed "JP Houston's Special Christmas Special", a direct to the Internet Christmas Pageant featuring guest appearances by many of Canada's best indie musicians.
