*The songs "Love Among the Ruins," "You Won't Find Me There," and "Shining Light" were drastically rewritten by
Jules Shear at the insistence of the record company. Originally, "Love Among the Ruins" was titled "I Gave You Warning," "You Won't Find Me There," was "Always & Ever," and "Shining Light" was "I'm Just Fine."
*The two singles from the album, "More Than This" and "Rainy Day," were not originally slated to be on the CD at all.John Lombardo had just written "Rainy Day," which was deemed more radio friendly than the other songs, and the record company insisted the band record a cover song for inclusion.
*In 1997, the 10, 000 Maniacs guest starred on "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (TV series) " ("A River of Candycorn Runs Through It") which aired on Halloween. They performed "Rainy Day" with then singer Mary Ramsey.
*International release date: June 17, 1997, except for the U.K. where it was released on July 7, 1997.
*By January 14, 1998, 177,656 copies were sold.
*The band chose to credit the songs as group collaborations so that all members would receive equal royalties.Mary Ramsey andJohn Lombardo shared the lyric writing. Ramsey wrote the music to "All That Never Happens." Lombardo wrote "Rainy Day," "Even With My Eyes Closed," "Big Star," "Shining Light," and "Across the Fields." Lombardo shared writing credit withJerry Augustyniak on "Girl on a Train."Rob Buck wrote "Love Among the Ruins," andDennis Drew wrote "A Room For Everything."
