The Derri-Air is a special type of
bicycle seat that was originally invented by Kelly Eldon Wheeler in 1996.The purpose for creating the air seat was to make the most comfortable ride possible on a
bicycle .It was invented by experimenting with different forms of air-holding material and shapes.
This process continued for a couple of years and many prototypes were made, until the correct combination of materials and shapes were combined into a satisfactory formula.
This formula provided for a seat that would prevent the rider from contacting their crotch with this seat, while offering the additional benefit of shock absorption and flex to give the rider ultimate comfort.
On
March 28 ,2000 Kelly Eldon Wheeler was seriously injured while driving, when someone recklessly crashed into his car, rolling it twice and leaving Kelly withtraumatic brain injury .Two weeks after this event, the Derri-Air company received some media attention from sources including US News and World Report the Houston Chronicle and one other magazine.
