Pál Schmitt (born
13 May 1942 inBudapest ) is a Hungarianpolitician andMember of the European Parliament with theFidesz – Hungarian Civic Union , Member of the Bureau of theEuropean People's Party and is vice-chair of theEuropean Parliament 'sCommittee on Culture and Education .Schmitt chairs the Delegation to the
EU -Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee.He is also a great sportsman, won team
épée gold medal at the Games of the XIX. Olympiad in Mexico (1968) and the XX. Olympiad in Munich (1972). He is the Chief of Protocol of theInternational Olympic Committee (IOC) and presided theWorld Olympians Association between1999 and2007 .Education
