Bologna Research Institute for Surgical Knowledge is a biotechnology corporation, founded in Bologna, Italy, in 2006. It collaborates actively with the University of Bologna, the oldest university in the world. It is one of the few completely Italian biotechnology companies. Its research efforts are focused on the development of new surgical and medical devices to improve the efficacy of the medical activity. It is currently involved in the development of a new hernia prosthesis for the treatment of inguinal hernia that uses a completely new biological mesh.
