"Baldwin Hills" is a reality television series featuring African-American teenagers from the Baldwin Hills district in Los Angeles, California. The show airs on BET.

Overview

"Baldwin Hills" is very similar in nature to such MTV programs as "" and "The Hills", as it features African-Americans of upper-middle class families, who divide their time between attending school, playing sports, shopping at high-end outlets, and driving expensive cars.

Many people have called "Baldwin Hills" the "African-American version" of "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills". However, the show has been noted for having more parental involvement on the show than "Laguna Beach", where parents almost seemed nonexistent. In a blog on the "Baldwin Hills" It has also been said on BET that is is a scripted show however that is false it is a reality show with real people not payed actors. Justin, a new cast member for the reality show's second season, wrote a blog that said that Moriah, Gerren, Sal, Staci, and Ashley from Season 1 appeared to participate in a photo shoot. It has since then been confirmed that the following five were coming back for second season, along with five new cast members.

A sneak peek for the second season of the show aired after the BET Awards "Black Carpet" post-show. Season 2 of the show began airing on July 8, 2008 with an order of 10 episodes for the second season. A DVD for Season 1 was released July 29, 2008.

Cast

Season 1
*DaymeonDuring Season One, Daymeon is portrayed as the wise-cracking player, seen vying for the affection of the younger, Gerren. "Day Day" gives moral support to his bestfriend, Earl, when he starts having trouble at home, as well as, accompanying him on wild comedic adventures. He is also seen instigating most of the feuds that happen in Baldwin Hills and doesnt mind giving his opinion on any situation. Daymeon is close friends with Jordan and Gaven, as well as his partner in crime, Earl. He also shows interest in becoming a pro basketball player. He does not appear in Season Two, except briefly in the first episode at Sal's "kickback".
*Ashley Ashley is your typical girl-next-door, but has to deal with the pressures of going off to college and living up to the expectations of her famous, hollywood actress, mother. She is a talented dancer and has a very close relationship with her family. Throughout the first season, Ashley is seen being pursued by the charming, Earl. Their relationship is brief and ends in a heated argument and break-up. She is friends with all of the senior girls (Garnette, Willie, etc.) and confides in them her confusion about life after high school. She appears as a main character in Season Two, taking on a new attitude towards former friends.
*Jordan Jordan is portrayed as man with dreams. He is seen throwing lavish parties, making connections, and attempting to live the life of a celebrity. He is all about making money and hanging with his friends. He has many quarrels with Garnette throughout the season, which later end with a final argument between the two, ending their "so called friendship". He is usually seen showing support to his friends and arguing with his mom about his "hand-me-down" car. Jordan is also a big fan of basketball. He does not appear in Season Two.
*Gerren During Season One, Gerren is portrayed as an already established model, nicknamed the "Mini Naomi". She is also seen juggling the romantic attempts of the older yet immature, Daymeon, and the young and athletic, Moriah, who she eventually chooses. Their relationship is brief and rocky due to Moriah's overprotective mother. Gerren also shows her sensitive side, when she attends a memorial service for her deceased friend. She is bestfriends with Roqui, and usually goes to her for advice. Gerren appears in Season Two, along with Moriah.
*Moriah Moriah is young and athletic, but very naive when it comes to girls. During Season One, he has a brief relationship with Gerren, who he really cared for. He also deals with his overprotective mother, who is always concerned for his safety when it comes to girls and sex. His dad is a former NBA player and his mentor. Moriah is very competitive and also does a lot of growing up during Season One. He return in Season Two, with a new attitude and girlfriend, much to the dismay of his ex, Gerren. Moriah has moved on. Leaving his past relationships behind, he has found a new love. He is currently dating Kaylah Walker of Atlanta, Ga.
*Garnette Some may call her stuck up, some may call her a bitch, but in the eyes of Garnette: shes the sweetest thing ever and they're all just jealous! Garnette is the queen bee and is usually shown talking down on the unpriveleged (Staci) and flaunting her money. Mid season, Garnette gets a reality check when she realizes that shes not as popular as she thought. She gets embarrassed at her surprise birthday party and takes it out on Jordan and later befriends Staci. She is usually shown with a bad attitude towards everything, and even has a bad time at her own prom. She graduates with her best friends, Willie and Makensy, in the last episode. She does not appear in Season Two.
*EarlEarl is a ladies man, but usually has bad luck with women. He is seen in a brief relationship with girl-next-door, Ashley, who he really had a crush on. He also hooked-up with Staci, who gave him a lap dance at a party. Earl is best friends with Daymeon, who helped him out when he was not getting along with his mother. Earl returned the favor by making connections at local comedy club, to get Daymeon on stage. He does not appear in Season Two.
*Gaven Gaven is nerdy, but popular. And during Season One, he is shown running for class president, which he eventually loses. He also takes a liking to the tough girl, Staci and is introduced to her way of living, compared to his middle-class lifestyle in Baldwin Hills. Their relationship didnt work out. He does not appear in Season Two.
*Roqui Roqui is portrayed as the all around athlete, her father an NBA coach, and her a starter for her high school basketball team. She, like Willie, is a voice of reason, straying away from gossip and giving advice to her friends, such as Gerren. Roqui has to work hard for everything she has, because her parents refuse to spoil her, and in the end she gets a brand new car. Roqui graduates in the last episode receives high honors from teachers. She goes off to college to play basketball and does not appear in Season Two, but briefly to appear at the premiere of Gerren's movie, "America the Beautiful".
*Sal Sal is literally the "Fresh Prince of Baldwin Hills". Growing up on the mean streets of Watts, California, he was taken in by his uncle and given a new lifestyle. Even though he finds it easy to fit in and adapt to his new situation, he still has one foot in the streets. Sal is an aspiring rapper and has dreams of making it big. He tops of his CD with a cover shot by his "muse" Willie, who he takes a liking to, which is not mutual, and Willie turns him down. Sal is very close with Staci, who he tries to put on the right path. He returns for Season Two.
*Staci Staci isn't ashamed of anything she does and isn't scared to say whats on her mind. Even though shes not from Baldwin Hills, she manages to find a place in a circle of wealthy peers. Staci has dreams of going to college and making her mother proud, but is usually portrayed as a procrastinator. She goes on a date with Gaven, which doesnt really work out, and has her share of confrontations with the mean-girl, Garnette, who eventually becomes her friend. She also takes on a role as a "role model" to her young pregnant cousin, but still has her share of mistakes too. But she later comes to an agreement with her homeboy, Sal, that she will go to school and get a job. Staci appears in Season Two.
*Willie Willie is very artistic and motherly, and is usually the peacemaker in her group of rowdy friends. She has a passion for photography and turns down Sal after he takes his crush to the next level. Willie usually the voice of reason, when it comes to her bestfriend, Garnette. Willie graduates with the other senior girls in the last episode. She does not appear in Season Two.
*Makensy During Season One, Makensy is portrayed as the gossip loving, bestfriend of Garnette and Willie. She loves fashion and partying and always knows something about someone. A young socialite is what her friends would call her. Makensy graduates with her besties in the last episode. She does not appear in Season Two.

Season 2
*Ashley Ashley is one of the more goal-orriented girls that was on the first season. She has found friends in Aunjel and Lor'Rena and is no longer associated with Gerren. She is beautiful and talented and seems to catch the eye of Johnathan who becomes her potential "boyfriend".
*AunjelAunjel is part of the "Fabulous Trio" along with her sister Lor'Rena and friend Ashley. She was originally linked to Sal but rumors were tarnished when Sal went on a date with LaLa. Aunjel is outspoken and was the one that convinced Lor'Rena to further pursue getting Moriah into her birthday "party".
*GerrenGerren is the tall lovely model from season one. She has sparked back up drama with ex-boyfriend Moriah and his pursuer Lor'Rena. Her and Lor'Rena have had several altercations but the most notable one is that of when she shoulder bumped Lor'Rena from the back while Lor'Rena was talking to Moriah. The girls were separated from almost fighting. Gerren claims to have no feelings for Moriah but has showed different.
*JohnathanJohnathan is the funny player type that is going to UCLA to play football. But the real game he is playing is with him and Ashely who he has turned all his attention to. Towards the end of the season, he focuses more on Lor'Rena in that he takes her to prom and they go out several times. He is friends with Moriah and Justin, and is one of the more laid-back and outspoken people of the show.
*Justin Justin is the sexiest guy ever to show on Baldwin Hills. He has a laid back personality.He is friends with everyone.And usually tries to calm Gerren down whenever she shows that she still has feelings for "his boy" Moriah.Toni Lewis Is the best;
*Lor'RenaLor'Rena is the drama queen of Baldwin Hills. She holds no punches especially when she tries to win Moriah's heart and ends up beefing with rival Gerren. Lor'Rena is the sister of Aunjel and is friends with Ashley. She is one of the people who is first to speak her mind.
*MoriahMoriah is the basketball champ of Baldwin Hills from season one and even though he has a girlfriend he has Gerren and Lor'Rena fighting over him. He is trying to stay faithful to his girlfriend, but with two beautiful girls fighting over him anything could happen. Moriah is friends with Sal, Justin, and Johnathan.
*Sal Sal is the potential rapper from season one who is going out with friend Gerren's friend LaLa. He is best friends with Staci and they both talk a lot to help each other through their problems. Sal is friends with mostly everybody and tries not to start drama but is always throwing parties (even fake parties like Lor'Rena's).
*SeikoSeiko is a pretty face with a troubled past who manages to keep her peace when with her friend Staci and her new found friend Justin. She is the daughter of a policeman and supposedly works at Hooters. She has not caused any drama but drama did appear at her party when she invited both Gerren and Lor'Rena to her party. It is revealed that she is 21 at the time of the show's taping. She is friends with Staci, Justin, Gerren and Sal.
*StaciStaci is the meaning of hard-working. She is one of the girls from season one and has done nothing but try her hardest to get out of the hood. She has a job at an after-school program and is friends with both Seiko and Sal who have helped her get through her hardships. She is not just gorgeous and out-spoken but the most career focused people of the show. She is determined to find a job and she doesn't take "no" for an answer. In the eighth episode of Season 2, she reveals to her boyfriend Kevin that she is pregnant.
