Jane Apreece (1780–1855), was a wealthy Scottish
socialite and widow who married SirHumphry Davy in 1812 to become Lady Davy. The marriage was ultimately unhappy and childless.She was born Jane Kerr, the only daughter of
spice andsugar merchant Charles Kerr (d. 1796), fromAntigua . Her first husband, Shuckburgh Apreece (d. 1807), had been theheir to abaronetcy , but died before he could inherit it.She is perhaps best known as a footnote in the life of
Michael Faraday , who travelled with her and her husband as a valet. She was not fond of Faraday, and made him eat with the servants and travel outside of their coach.
