Dalmarnock in the east end ofGlasgow . The band comprises James Allan (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rab Allan (lead guitar, backing vocals), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Caroline McKay (drum kit). Since their formation in 2006, they have released five singles.History
Formation and early years (2000–2007)
The band's line-up did not come together in early 2006 as recently speculated, but back in 2000. After gigging around Scotland, mostly Glasgow (where they played Glasgow's Barfly dozens of times) a mutual friend approached
Alan McGee at Death Disco and asked him to check out their friends' band "Glasvegas". At first he paid no attention, and yet the friend approached him several times. Eventually Alan had a listen to the band and has backed them ever since. ". Following the release of a second limited edition 7" single, "Daddy's Gone " in November 2007, Glasvegas found themselves at the centre of a bidding war from several major record labels. "Daddy's Gone" sold out and was voted the Number #2 single of the year by the "NME ".Signing and "Glasvegas" (2008)
After releasing third limited edition 7" single, "
It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry " onFebruary 14 ,2008 the band opted to sign for Columbia. They then won the prestigious Philip Hall Radar Award at theNME Awards two weeks later. Having only just released their debut album, the NME claim that Glasvegas are putting together the plans to record their second album in Romania, in an old Transylvanian church. Speaking with The Skinny in a July 2008 interview, singer James Allan confirmed not only this, but that it would in fact be a Christmas album.
