Robert Huw Morgan (born in 1967) is a Welsh-born organist, conductor and teacher.
Biography
Robert Huw Morgan is the University
Organist atStanford University . A native ofWales , he received his BA and MA from theUniversity of Cambridge , where he was organ scholar atSt. John's College . In this role he assisted the celebrated choral conductorGeorge Guest directing the famous chapel choir. In 1999, he was awarded two doctorates in music from theUniversity of Washington . He is also a Fellow of theRoyal College of Organists . Dr. Morgan has performed in Europe, Australia, the United States and Canada. His performances have been featured on theBBC radio and television, as well as stations in other countries. His repertoire includes works from the earliest sources of keyboard music to contemporary works (including the west coast premiere of Hyperion byJean Guillou ), along with such Romantic masterpieces asFranz Liszt 's Fantasia and Fugue on "Ad nos" andMax Reger 's Variations and Fugue on an Original Theme. In 2004, he performed the complete organ works ofDieterich Buxtehude , as a celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the celebratedC.B. Fisk organ inStanford Memorial Church . He has also performed the complete organ works of Couperin and de Grigny.As a conductor, he has led performances of several operas (Falstaff, Hansel & Gretel and Die Fledermaus, among others), as well as such choral masterpieces as
J.S. Bach 'sSt. John Passion ,Mozart's Requiem andMass in C minor , and the Vespers of both Rachmaninoff and Monteverdi.In addition to his duties at
Stanford Memorial Church , he holds the positions of Lecturer in Organ and Choral Studies and Director of the Stanford University Singers.External links
