Jared Gothreaux

Jared Gothreaux (born January 27, 1980 in Lake Charles, Louisiana) is a baseball pitcher. He is currently in the minor leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays and assigned to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Career

Gothreaux was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 2001 MLB Amateur Entry Draft, in the 37th round, 1106th overall. He decided not to sign with Houston then, but was drafted again by them in 2002, in the 16th round, 491st overall. He was sent to the A level team of the Astros at that time, the Tri City ValleyCats. With Tri City, he amassed a 2-3 record, with a 2.72 ERA. The next year, 2003, he was sent to the Salem Avalanche, another A level squad. This was a relatively better year, as Gothreaux went 13-4 and had a 2.82 ERA. In 2004 he was bumped up to AA level, going to the Round Rock Express. In 2004, Jared went 9-7. Round Rock became Houston's AAA team the next year, and Jared would play the next three seasons mainly for the Express. However, he was at Houston's 2005 Spring Training, and was part of their 2007 40-man roster.
