Saline evaporites

Saline evaporites

A saline evaporite is a a deposit of sedimentary rock composed of salts precipitated during solar evaporation of surface brines. They are composed of halite, anhydrite, gypsum and potassium salts. The salts precipitate to form the evaporite when the net evaporation exceeds the input from precipitation and inflow. [cite book
