July 20 ,1736 —January 24 ,1830 ) was an ItalianRoman Catholic Cardinal .Born in
Fagnano Castello ,Calabria to Pier Maria Firrao, Prince of Sant'Agata and of Luzi, and Livia Grillo di Agapito, Duchess of Mondragone and Countess of Carinola. He studied his first studies inNaples , then studied humanities at "Collegio Nazareno" and later completed a doctorate in canon and civil law atLa Sapienza University ,Rome . He received theminor orders in the period 1775-1782 and wasordained as a priest onMarch 16 ,1782 .On
February 25 ,1782 Firrao was electedtitular archbishop ofPetra in Palaestina and appointed nuncio inVenice onApril 8 ,1782 . From 1795 year became secretary of the SacredCongregation of Bishops and Regulars .Pope Pius VII created him cardinal in theconsistory ofFebruary 23 ,1801 with the title ofSant'Eusebio . In the period of 1802 - 1803 he was madeCamerlengo of theCollege of Cardinals and "First Priest" of the same high eclessiastical body 1823 - 1830. He took part of thePapal conclave, 1823 and in the next conclave in 1829.Cardinal Firrao died in
Naples and buried in the metropolitan cathedral.External links
