Sammy, played by Laurence Mason, is a fictional character from the American television series, "Prison Break". He was introduced in the season 3 premiere as one of the inmates in Sona Federal Prison. Sammy is Lechero's right hand man, and keeps Lechero's regime running by performs a number of tasks for his boss, including stripping new inmates of their wallets. He is temperamental and violent, and is often used to kill people that have in some way displeased Lechero. He is easily undefeated in the Sona death matches. It was revealed in the online Visitation clips that he has a girlfriend on the outside, and that he views anyone trying to escape from Sona as a traitor to the prison.

Season 3

Sammy was immediately distrustful of Lechero's new henchman, Theodore Bagwell, and continued to be suspicious and frustrated with him. He was increasingly uncertain of Lechero's leadership, and tensions begun to flare between the two after Colonel Escamilla revealed Lechero's true colors to the inmates, thus making them start to defy Lechero. Sammy was not included in Lechero, Michael Scofield, and Whistler's escape attempt, but began to grow suspicous of his boss, especially after Lincoln Burrows called Lechero's cell phone asking to speak with Michael. Sammy later expressed his desire to reinforce Lechero's gang with the tough inmate Cristobal and his men, a request which Lechero warily accepted. Following the episode Vamonos, Sammy was outraged that Lechero refused to kill Michael after Michael's first escape attempt resulted in Papo, one of Lechero's goons and a friend of Sammy, being falsy accused for the act and shot dead by Colonel Escamilla. In a deleted scene from the episode, Sammy promised Papo's sister that he would avenge her brother's death.

In the episode "Boxed In", Augusto, Lechero's cousin, had a gun delivered to Sammy, and told him to take control of Sona, by killing Lechero if necessary. Egged on by Cristobal and angry that Lechero still refused to eliminate Michael, Sammy staged a coup to take control of Sona in the episode Dirt Nap. However, he allowed Lechero live. Sammy placed a bounty on Michael Scofield's head and when he captured Whistler, Michael was forced to let him into the escape tunnel in return for Whistler's life. Realizing that Lechero was planning to escape with Michael, and without telling him, Sammy was visibly hurt. He planned on killing Michael, but never got the chance. Sammy was killed when the escape tunnel below Sona caved-in on him when he was inspecting it. The tunnel collapsed due to being intentionally sabotaged by Michael. Soon Lechero, now back in power, kicked Sammy's dead body off the balcony, along with the dead bodies of Cristobal and the others that had supported the coup. Sammy's reign in Sona was very brief.
