- Dubware
Dubware is a musical project created in 1998 by the Italian musician and producer "Val" (aka Valerio Riccelli), supported by its own label "Arrayed Roots Sounds".
Origin of the name
The origin of this name is from the union of: "DUB", a musical genre, and "HARDWARE", the mixing desk and tape that provide the scaffolding for
Dub music . If we look back to the roots of Dub music, we find the re-mix as the vehicle for DJs to promote and spread their styles to a waiting, receptive audience, and the new music's been mashing thedance floor ever since, influencing all currentdance music 's from house to trance.History
The first work from Dubware was released in 1999 with the title "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that skank!" a five track mini-album. "It don't mean a thing ..." is borrowed from Duke Ellington, the great Jazz composer, who felt that even a great composition would be worthless if nobody could dance to it - and "skanking" is today's
swing .In 2000 the release of "Visions of Babylon", a full-length CD album, forms the next step in the development of the Dubware sound. "Visions ..." broadens the base of musical innovation to include influences from the contemporary European dance club scene. Technical wizardry combined with a soul-drenched rhythmic sense, brimming with an uncommon sense of humour that's well ahead of the dance music of the day.The project soon evolves into a "multi-art" work: in 2003 the unofficial release of aDvd in Surround 5.1 audio recording technique titled "Lion Treasure" steps this project to a mixed video and audio artistic concept, where the artist expresses itself through the music and thedigital video art .Tracks as "Hot Get Hotter" were born, included in the international Dub compilation "The Dub Funk Association - Roots of Dub Funk", released by the London based label Tenty Records in 2001, with several international Dubartists such as:Alpha and Omega , The Technician, to name a few.Since its debut, Dubware's work has been receiving favorable attention from DJs of varied musical genres, and its music has quickly entered the playlists of several European and U.S.A. radio stations, with positive reviews in music magazines such as: The Beat, Reggae Report, Dub Missive, Echoes and The Wire.Discography
