Omer Cordell

Omer Roy Cordell (born 24 December 1976 near Tel-Aviv, Israel) is a Vancouver based photographer specializing in rock album photography and is the owner of Seventh Frame Photography.

Life in Israel

Growing up in Israel Cordell was faced with the reality of serving 3 years in the Israeli Defense Forces and served as a senior combat medic. Shortly after his military service he spent some time in Southern Chile before moving to Vancouver BC and start his photography career.

While his unique background has seen him make stops in cities worldwide. Cordell initially began photographing musicians, both in the live and studio setting, but has branched out into other industries, as well as continued working on his own unique art pieces.

Introduction to Rock Photography

Cordell's big break came when the multi-talented Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Steve Vai) personally requested Cordell take the promotional shots for Townsend's 2003 DTB opus, "Accelerated Evolution". Cordell's name quickly spread throughout the industry landing him a high-profile gig shooting the photos that would appear in the booklet of Fear Factory's 2004 CD release, "Archetype", on Liquid 8 Records.During the Archetype Photo sessions, Cordell earned his nickname "Impson" from vocalist Burton C. Bell. Bell argued that seeing as Cordell's name is Omer without the "H" then his last name should be Impson without the "S".In addition to the major exposure generated from Devin Townsend and Fear Factory, Cordell has honed his skills with other up-and-coming and established bands such as KMFDM, Alexisonfire, Clutch, Mnemic, Threat Signal, Meshuggah, Apocalyptica and many more.
