Joseph Donald Reid Cabral (June 9, 1923-July 22, 2006) was a former leader of the Dominican Republic. He chaired the "triumvirate" from December 29, 1963.[1]
Biography
Donald Reid was the son of a Scottish immigrant who ran an auto dealership. He was placed in the triumvirate by the military, but ultimately came to dominate it and gain some measure of power.[2] In 1965 a pro-Juan Bosch uprising occurred, which would ultimately lead to his overthrow, although the US tried to end it in Operation Power Pack.[3] From 1986 to 1988 he acted as the nation's foreign minister.[4]
