- Fate Fatal
Fate Fatal (born
November 19 1973 as Joel Marsden inSanta Monica, California ) is the singer and creator of the Los Angeles based bandThe Deep Eynde which came out of the Los Angeles Gothic scene in the early 1990's. With a chameleon-like ability to continuously change, Fate always seems to keep within the range of "everything that is dark". He is more noted by his unpredictability, whether it be with his music, style...and even sound. Although coming from a the dark Gothic scene in Los Angeles, Fate Fatal has tackled more styles of music than most musicians do in their whole life time; Gothabilly, Rockabilly, industrial, dance, punk, gothic, batcave, deathrock, hardcore, and new wave, amongst others. In the early 90's he was involved in performance art with The Theater of the Vampires group. Not too long after he began a group called Kittens For Christian, who went on to eventually be signed with a label
Serjical Strike , owned by the singer ofSystem of a Down ,Serj .Deep Eynde
Fate began The Deep Eynde in the early 90's, a band that would incorporate a heavy theatrical show. Some of his outfits would incorporate more experimental concepts such as insects, octopuses and more. He had become prominent in the Gothic scene in California in the early 90's, first signing his first release "City Lights" with APOLLYON records, in Kassel Germany. Three years later, Fate returned with his second album through APOLLYON records, called Suicide Drive.
In 2004, the band resurged when Duane Peters of U.S. Bombs signed the The Deep Eynde to his label, with the release of SHADOWLAND, Disaster Records, a subsidiary of Bomp! records. In the same year the album Shadowland was picked up by "People Like You Records" in Germany. Now with already a fan base, and a new label, The Deep Eynde had returned with a force they had not had before.
The Deep Eynde has toured extensively over the years in the United States and Europe, with four full length releases, and over 20 singles. As of January 18th, 2008 he has begun working on an anthology album called "Blackout", which documents Fate's beginnings in music in 1990 to present. Although The Deep Eynde has changed its members repeatedly, Fate has kept it steady and running through the 1990's, completely contrasting and driving it through the 1990's grunge scene.
Currently
Fate is working on The Deep Eynde's anthology album, which will be titled "Blackout", which is to be released in Spring 2008 on People Like You Records in Germany.
