Sanka Dineth (born November 12, 1986) is a Sri Lankan musician that was a contestant on "Sirasa Superstar".

;School Music

From a young age Sanka Dineth DeSilva had a hidden talent. That hidden talent was music. This was mostly highlighted in his schooling years. Most of his schooling life was at Tissa Central College in Kalutara, then later at Panadura Sumangala again in Kalutara, his home town.

His teachers realised his vast music ability, especially when he chose music as an o’level subject in grade 9, which he carried on for 2 years till grade 11. Without question Sanka passed with flying colours with a destination in music. With all the commotion in his schooling life Sanka was also in the school western band. He not only plays the guitar but; the piano, violin and the flute. Being a very versatile musician it goes without question that he has a diploma in vocal classic bhathkande music (Indian classic)

Throughout his schooling years he participated in countless extracurricular activities and numerous talent shows, which not only promoted his schools talent but highlighted him as an accomplished and promising future musician for Sri Lanka and all this at such a young age. This was further enhanced by his composing skills when he directed school shows and ‘wowed’ his school teachers and teachers from the Kalutara district.

Sanka Dineth left Tissa central college after his o’level and joined Panadura Sumangala to continue his further education (A levels). He studied; combined maths, chemistry and physics. Along with his highly demanding and challenging subjects he found the time to take part in the schools music events. The teachers didn’t need to here much of Sanka’s talent they new he was a light which would never be blown out, meaning he his gift came from the universe and beyond, so Sanka was given the opportunity to be the music director of the school. Sanka being such a versatile and endowed young musician, so was it a question that he was given that prestigious position in the school. Sanka’s ability to compose melodies was again an advantage for him, when the teacher came to here of this he was made to be in the school orchestra.

During these 2 years, which were the vital years of Sanka dineth’s life. He explored and studied many aspects of music and looked into many different types of music from all continents such as opera. His interests lead him to his peak of the music knowledge retained already. Without Sanka realising it will be in his favour for his future.

;As A School Leaver

After leaving school Sanka Dineth found he had more time at hand. Since his love for music only grew deeper he decided he wanted to play for a band called ‘drizzle’. Though this was only for a very short while Sanka travelled and played for many weddings and birthdays in various hotels for many functions.

;Sirasa Super Star

Sri Lanka’s answer to American’s version of ‘American Idol’, Sanka Dineth DeSilva was amongst the 50, 000 people who were fortunate enough to compete. With all his strength, hope and determination he was ready for anything to hit him. He knew he was up against some of the nation’s real raw talent and like him somewhat musically blessed. However against all odds sanka passed the 1st round and stunned the panel of judges in the first round. Walking into the audition room with his very own ‘ 6 string’ sanka waited to clear his head and without much thought started strumming his guitar and enlightened the judges with his version of ‘Muwa muktha latha’, Edward Jayakody’s original track. This was when, for the first time the nation realised who sanka Dineth DeSilva really was.

Sanka’s god given talent playing music by ear and his brilliant versatility on his vocals made him blessed in such a way that he reached the final forty-eight without great difficulty. The fort- eight halved into twenty-four and finally into to last 12. When sanka entered the final 12 contestants did he realise it was going to be a battle of the best musician, but that wasn’t the only issue that was going to be the obstacle. He knew he had to hold on to the nation’s love and hearts to gain his vote and impress them in every round till the end!

Nevertheless sanka was eliminated before he could reach the final 5, as the 6th member to leave his new found super star family. The nation was shocked and stunned and couldn’t believe Sanka’s elimination at such an early stage of the final few rounds. Not only did sanka have fans in Sri Lanka but all over the world through his website, sankadineth.com. Even though Sanka did leave the competition, the fans knew he will never leave the hearts and souls of many people that easily and that he would be permantly embedded in the minds of many people and not forgotten.

Though he left, sanka was not out of the music scene completely he had many plans for himself already built in his head.Also Sirasa had plans for the young budding star, involving him in many videos and concerts all over Sri Lanka.
