By 8th grade, Rhansum was alreadyfreestlying andbattle rapping between classes at school. He would also enter every talent contest that he could find. He'd arrive at grade school each day, carrying a briefcase. This initially elicited taunts and jokes from his peers, until they discovered the contents. Once he showed the kids a smalldrum machine and a set of headphones inside the case, the joking stopped. The briefcase contents also explained why he always sat in the back of the class; he made certain he was close to a plug, so he could duck down and make beats. He started a rap group in Junior High by the name of the DEF-Fonix. The group won every talent show they entered and this winning streak remained unbroken through all of his high school years.Colaborations and Producing
