Sam Rhansum aka Rhansum is an American rapper, record producer, DJ, and actor from Nashville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia.

Even as an unsigned, independent artist, Sam Rhansum’s music is featured in worldwide high profile outlets such as BET’s top rated show "American Gangster" where he scored two entire episodes,, MTV’s The Real World,, , , and on the soundtrack to EA Sports title NFL Street 3. He is also featured on the underground remix of Justin Timberlake's single "Summer Love" ,Robin Thicke's "Lost Without You" and Flo Rida and T-Pain's Hit single "LOW". All three remixes first surfaced as part of the Atlanta underground club scene, but went on to garner worldwide exposure with club and radio play.

In November 2007, Rhansum began recording with producer/engineer Billy Hume. Hume's incredible resume reads like a "Who's Who" of urban music: Lil' Jon, Ludacris, Bonecrusher, Ying Yang Twins, Shop Boyz, Rich Boy, David Banner, Nelly, etc... . Working out of his Atlanta studio (The Zone), Billy Hume has taken Rhansum and his music to the proverbial "next" level.

Early career

Rhansum was born an only child in Orlando, Florida to a single mother. Music became an outlet for him as early as 5 years old. He was songwriting by age 6. He started playing drums around age 10 and moved to a drum machine at age 13. By 8th grade, Rhansum was already freestlying and battle rapping between classes at school. He would also enter every talent contest that he could find. He'd arrive at grade school each day, carrying a briefcase. This initially elicited taunts and jokes from his peers, until they discovered the contents. Once he showed the kids a small drum machine and a set of headphones inside the case, the joking stopped. The briefcase contents also explained why he always sat in the back of the class; he made certain he was close to a plug, so he could duck down and make beats. He started a rap group in Junior High by the name of the DEF-Fonix. The group won every talent show they entered and this winning streak remained unbroken through all of his high school years.
