The sesarmid crabs (Sesarmidae) are a family of crabs. They were long included in the Grapsidae by many authors. The genera "Chiromantes", "Parasesarma", "Pseudosesarma" and "Sesarmops" are apparently not monophyletic. "Scandarma" may be a junior synonym of some other genus. [Schubart "et al." (2003, 2006)]

Several species - namely in "Geosesarma", "Metopaulias" and "Sesarma" - are true terrestrial crabs. They do not need to return to the sea even for breeding. [Schubart "et al." (2003)]
