Rosanna Carter

Rosanna Carter was an American television, stage and film actress, of Bahamian extraction, and the sister of Esther Rolle and Estelle Evans. [ [http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0738354/bio IMDB Biography for Esther Rolle] ] She was born in Florida. During the Harlem Renaissance, she acted at New Lafayette Theater as one of the Lafayette Players [A Sourcebook on African-American Performance: Plays, People, Movements, Annemarie Bean, 1999] . She acted in The Brother from Another Planet, a well-reviewed 1984 film described as a science fiction fairy tale with a slavery plot.

Awards

Carter received an AUDELCO award in 1977 for her work as a supporting actress in the play, Unfinished Women [ [http://www.publictheater.org/about/Awards1956-2006.pdf Public Theater Awards 1956-2006] ] .
