Phytosome

Phytosome

Phytosome is a marketing term for a patent process for producing herbal extracts.

It is claimed [ [http://www.doctormurray.com/articles/Phytosomes.htm Dr. Murray Natural Living | Articles: Phytosomes ] ] that phytosomes are better absorbed and have better results than "conventional herbal extracts". Products marketed using this term include acytl-l-carnatine.

An attempt to trademark the term failed on appealhttp://www.ll-a.com/welch/top10LosingTTABfinalSEP2001.pdf]

Legal analysis held "...Applicant’s fatal error, according to the Board, was in using the term as the sole designation for its new product."

At least one dictionary has defined it as “a new term cosmetologists are using for the combination of liposomes ... and plant extracts.” Fact|date=January 2008
