The Scottish Firefighters Association
- The Scottish Firefighters Association
Founded by Christopher Grinder in 2006, the Scottish Firefighters Association [http://www.scottishfirefighters.com] is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to firefighters of Scottish heritage. The Scottish equivalent of the Irish Emerald Society. To join you must be descendants of natives of Scotland. Be of good moral character, and be in the fire service either paid or volunteer.
Some of the objectives of the S.F.F.A. are:
# To Unite all firefighters in order to develop a fraternal organization.
# To preserve the Scottish culture and to promote the contributions of our ancestors.
# To recognize the accomplishments of Scottish-Americans in the Fire Service.
# To exchange information and enhance communications among member organizations and to gain membership throughout the United States and the International community.
The official slogan for the association is "Brothers of the Kilt" but the association also uses an unofficial Gaelic slogan "Braithre Thar Gach Ni" which translated means "Brothers Above All". The S.F.F.A. has three different types of memberships: Active, Retired, and Associate. The Associate membership is for those who may not be of Scottish descent but still would like to join.
