Olekander Dermanskyj

Olekander Dermanskyj was born on November 28, 1976 in a little village Haivoron, in Kiev region. He studied at the National Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov, at the faculty of Ukrainian Philology.

In 1999 he graduated with the Master’s Degree as a teacher of Ukrainian Language and Literature and Foreign Literature. That very year he began to work at Kiev College of Electric Appliances and is still working there.

Dermanskyj is married and has a daughter, Vladislava.

In 2001 he became a literary editor of the children's magazine "The Path". The first poems for infants were published exactly there. (№ 16 2001) Since then, numerous poems, stories and fairy-tales have been published in periodicals. Some of them were under the pseudonyms Sashko Volodarskyj or Nazar Dibrova.

In October 2004, Thesis Publishers published his children's novel "The Adventures of Grass-snake Onysko".

In March 2005, he was recommended to be taken into the National Writers Union of Ukraine. He became its official member in May 2006.

Awards

In April 2005, his novel, "The King of Books, or the Mystery of the Emerald Book", was awarded a diploma of the All-Ukrainian Literary Contest, “The Word Crowning”.

He has published nine books so far, and two audio-books for children have been edited, with more to come out soon. There are also books to be edited abroad.
