Wisconsin Heritage Online is an expanding digital collection, featuring documentary sources and material culture from Wisconsin libraries, archives, and museums. The collections in this portal are contributed by cultural heritage organizations throughout Wisconsin. Click on Content Providers for information about the providers and their digital collections. Initiated in 2004 as a collaborative project of Wisconsin cultural heritage institutions, Wisconsin Heritage Online is a digital collection of Wisconsin's history, heritage, culture and people.

Participation is open to all Wisconsin cultural collections archives, historical societies, libraries, museums and other organizations with content to share. Subject matter is interpreted broadly to include all aspects of Wisconsin history, culture, government and industry.

Goals

Expand access to Wisconsin's cultural heritage resources by assisting cultural heritage institutions to digitize content

Facilitate digitization through coordinated training and consultation

Encourage digitization through availability of support and hosting services

Maintain the infrastructure to support digital collaboration

Expand access to digitized content of cultural heritage institutions

Provide for interoperability across a variety of collections available through digital collection initiatives

Provide for content to be accessible from one place
