Albita Rivera Ramirez

Albita Rivera Ramirez is a representative in the Puerto Rican House of Representatives for the Third District of San Juan. Rep. Rivera is a member of the NPP or New Progressive Party (PNP in Spanish), which promotes the eventual statehood of the island nation.

In 2008 the Puerto Rican Senate passed a bill that would enact a referendum on declaring a Constitutional Amendment to establish marriage as between one man and one woman. Although the plan has some support in the NPP, Rep. Rivera has refused to support the amendment, at the risk of her future candidacy for her seat in the House of Representatives.
