Lu Xuechang

Lu Xuechang (zh-sp|s=路学长|p=路學長) (born 1964, Beijing, China) is a sixth generation Chinese film director. Like many of his present-day peers, critics have seen elements of foreign filmmakers in Lu's work with Lu himself claiming to enjoy Italian cinema (although he stops short of naming specific influences).cite web|url=http://www-cgi.cnn.com/ASIANOW/time/features/interviews/2000/10/26/int.lu_xuechang.html | title = 'Creating Hollywood-Style Movies Would Be Suicide For Us' | publisher = Time Asia | author= Short, Stephen| date =2000-10-26|accessdate=2008-01-16] Also like his peers, however, Lu has had his share of run-ins with the censors. "The Making of Steel" for example, was recut six times before it was allowed to be screened.
