Guillermo Kirschbaum

Guillermo Kirschbaum

Guillermo Kirschbaum (March 28, 1968April 13, 2003) was an Argentine cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler.

Kirschbaum represented the South of Argentina during four miscellaneous matches between 1986 and 1990, as a tailend batsman, playing in his debut match against future South team-mate Donald Forrester.

Kirschbaum represented Argentina for the first time during the ICC Trophy competition of 1990, playing seven matches, his first against Papua New Guinea, against whom he took one wicket during a five-over bowling spell. He continued to take occasional wickets during the competition, making a highest score with the bat of 32 runs.

With no international action for the next four years, Kirschbaum played in games for the South of Argentina against the North of Argentina. In 1994, Kirschbaum once again played in the ICC Trophy, playing all seven matches in the competition, playing as an opening batsman with Bernardo Irigoyen. He made his highest score of 57 in a match against the United States, which would be his only half-century for his team.

The batsman later played during the 1996-97 competition, the 1997-98 South American Championship, and the 2000 Americas Championship, before the 2001 ICC Trophy competition, in which he played five games.

Kirschbaum's final matches for the national team came in the Americas Championship competition in 2002, for which he was made captain. His final international game came against the Bahamas, against whom he scored nine runs. He played one further game for the North of Argentina before hanging up his gloves.

Kirschbaum died just two months after his final cricket match, at the age of 35.
