- Al Wahbah crater
The Al Wahbah crater lies 120 km north of
Taif near Al Muwayh, Zalim and is part of theHarrat Rahat area. There are two theories on how the Wahba Crater was created.
*Most people believe the crater was made by volcanic activity in the form of an underground explosion.
*The second theory is that it was formed by a meteorite. The Crater appearance resembles theBarringer Crater , not least due its size of 1.86 miles (roughtly 3 km) wide circle and the sides of 700 feet high. The bottom is covered with the white sodium phosphate crystals. From the year 2000 and onwards tourism has discovered the site and paved roads and signs have been placed to expidite travel.
