- Harold Marshall (New Zealand acoustician)
Professor A. Harold Marshall is an acoustics expert, Professor Emeritus of the
University of Auckland School of Architecture, and co-founder ofMarshall Day Acoustics Ltd in 1982 with Chris Day. He currently resides inAuckland New Zealand , and continues work with Marshall Day Acoustics as a group consultant.He is recognised internationally for his contribution to
concert hall design, in particular his seminal work withMike Barron on the importance of lateral reflections.Currently he is involved in several major concert hall projects including the
Guangzhou Opera House with architectZaha Hadid and thePhilharmonie de Paris with french architectJean Nouvel .Honors
* Marshall was elected a Fellow of the
Royal Society of New Zealand in 1994. He also holds Fellowships in theAcoustical Society of America , theNZ Institute of Architects and theRoyal Australian Institute of Architects .
* In 1995 he was awarded theWallace Clement Sabine Medal by theAcoustical Society of America for his contributions to the field of architectural acoustics, and design of concert halls.
* In 2006 he received the Gold Medal of theAcoustical Foundation of India .
* In 2008 he received the title of Distinguished Companion of theNew Zealand Order of Merit .External links
