Joe Moreira Tournament Lightweight Champion, Copa Pacifica Welterweight Champion, the Cleber Luciano Tournament Welterweight Champion and the Paragon Tournament Champion. Smith also placed third in the Southern California Submission Pro-Am and the 2003 Gracie Open. He fought in his first pro fight with Team Punishment ofHuntington Beach, California , in 2001.Smith grew up outside of
Fresno, California . Smith’s grandfather was a boxer in the U.S. Army. Smith began his fighting career in high school, on thewrestling team. He studied history atUCLA , where he participated in the jiu-jitsu club. After graduating in 2000 he was a seventh-grademathematics teacher.On
